Orpheus

Appearances: The Battle of Olympus-NES

Purpose in Life: It is a sunny day in Ancient Greece, by all accounts just your average day of chasing satyrs, battling wood nymphs and consulting various oracles… but this picturesque Grecian setting will soon become a Greek tragedy. Orpheus is out with his girlfriend, Helene, when out of nowhere a snake bites her killing her instantly. It is only later that Orpheus learns that Hades has kidnapped Helene and taken her to Hades to be his bride. A misty-eyed Orpheus then seeks out Zeus, and the help of many other Gods to aid him in his journey to Hades to save his girlfriend. Along the way Orpheus engages in epic battles with various mythological beasts, like Medusa, Cerberus, and the Minotaur among others, as well as travel to various locations of Ancient Greece like Arcadia, Crete, and Attica. In order to vanquish the minions of Hades Orpheus must seek out key items taken from the pages of Greek Mythology such as the Harp of Apollo, the Sword of Hephaestus, the Staff of Prometheus and the Sandals of Hermes.

Although The Battle of Olympus was an excellent game, Orpheus didn’t necessarily connect with most gamers. Now he wanders aimless through the great void that is one-hit heroes.
