Have you
been aching to listen to Red XIII's Theme from Final Fantasy VII
or the Boss BGM from the orinial Castlevania? If so, John
has discovered a web site that you have to see. This site will change
your life... well, at least it changed John's life. To meet the demand for video game soundtracks, several websites have emerged specializing in game related music. My favorite of these sites is called Gaming FM. Essentially, Gaming FM is an online radio playing video game music.
After registering, the listener has four different stations s/he can choose from: Classic Console, Modern Console, Totally PC and a station that includes songs from all of these categories, my personal favorite. Once the listener has selected a station it loads in iTunes where it is saved. The name of the song and the game to which it belongs are displayed at the top of iTunes as well as on the Gaming FM main site. The play list is vastly varied and includes selections from almost every genre and console out there. It is fun hearing those old songs and then trying to guess what game they came from. Also, I have been introduced to music from games I have never played before. To further the radio experience, users can request music and there are forums for discussing video games and video game music. This website proves that video game music is more than just background music, it is a musical form that should be, and is, taken seriously. Check them out at www.gamingfm.com |
